JOE'S Pub at the Public Theater has a public-relations fiasco on its hands. To celebrate its anniversary, the East Village venue hyped a contest called "10 for the 10th: 10 Free Shows for 10 Years of Joe's Pub." Patrons could go to the club's Web site, pick upcoming shows they wanted to see for free, then check if they won. But many logged on to find they'd been awarded seats for shows they hadn't re quested and had no interest in seeing. "These shows were supposed to be a gift to fans, but now it's all screwed up," one disgruntled Joe's regular told us. "[They] had to redo the random drawing. The result was that some people who thought they had tickets wound up losing those tickets and winding up with nothing." In a note of apology, Joe's pro gramming coordinator Jo Lampert said: "Unfortunately, an error occurred."
