FASHIONISTAS CLIPPED ON CABS

October 7, 2008 --

PARISIANS have a reputation for being snooty, but fashion designer Sonia Rykiel took bad manners to new lows last week. The party after Rykiel's runway show during Paris Fashion Week was held under a tent in St. Cloud, about 30 minutes outside the city. "The invitations promised everyone cab rides home," said one of the 800 guests. But when it was time to head back to the City of Light, our reveler was shocked to find the meter in her cab "had been running for an hour . . . All the cabs showed up an hour before guests left and started running their meters," said our snitch. "Nobody told us we would be paying for cabs, but we had to cough up over 75 euros to get back to the city. There was no other way to get home." With the exception of a few A-listers like Dita von Teese and Jean-Paul Gaultier, our tipster fumed, "Everyone was really angry." Rykiel's rep is traveling and could not be reached.
