If there is someone out of touch with reality, it's Mayor Bloomberg, getting upset because people are buying their smokes from no-tax vendors and not in the Big Apple ("19,000 Smokes a Day?" Editorial, Oct. 1).
Bloomberg should have realized that the revenue from cigarette overtaxation was going to dry up. Didn't he think that people would find some way to save themselves a few bucks as he kept jacking up the tax on smokes? Who can blame them? They're smokers, not billionaires.
Besides, the money they save on cigarette taxes will help them pay New York's other high taxes.
