Owned and styled by AvroKO (the visionary design team behind Public), Double Crown feels like a movie set in the glamorous world of Shanghai or Bombay. From its ancient Asian panels, raw stonework, ceiling fans on a pulley-driven conveyor belt, and a long convivial bar lit with twinkling Asian lanterns, be prepared to be transported upon arrival.
Must-have meal: Crispy drunken quail with cinnamon tamarind sauce ($12); lamb and cashew meatballs with shaved coconut, crispy onion rings and lime pickle (left, $17); and rice pudding samosas with carrot ice cream ($9).

Hours: Mon.-Sun., 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Brunch, Sat. & Sun. 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

American whiskey is the star of this new Cobble Hill restaurant owned by Sean Josephs, a former sommelier from Primehouse, and Michael Tsoumpas, a man with a hankering for the bourbon and rye. Behind the black-walnut bar there are about 300 whiskeys - half of which are American - along with a menu of rustic Southern American eats from former A Voce lineman Matt Greco.
Must-have meal: Cornflake-crusted fried oysters with bacon remoulade (left, $10); smoked honey-glazed half chicken with braised mustard greens ($20); a side of smoked eggplant stew ($6); and chocolate cheesecake with blackberries and créme fraiche ($9).
