The hot ticket of the week was lunch at the Four Seasons with Derek Jeter as he launched his new collection of Series 800 Movado watches. The limited-edition 18K gold chronographs with an alligator strap and Derek's no. 2 engraved on the outer ring are strictly for collectors and will set you back $25,000. There are two other levels: a gold and stainless-steel model, of which there are 100, costs $7,700. And $1,700 will get you one of the two stainless-steel models (pictured below), of which there are 1,000. The watches go on sale in October, and some of the proceeds will go to Jeter's charity, Turn 2. But enough of that - here are the deets on Jeets.
"We have so many rules, with the Yankees, when we play we can only have one chain, no earrings. And you've got to shave." Lucky for us.
Off the field he tries to look sharp. "I like wearing suits. When we travel for the Yankees, we always have to dress up. So, I have a lot of suits." As for where he gets them, he confesses, "I have weird arm lengths, so I have a tailor in Chicago."
And when you call, he'll answer on an iPhone. "I'm not really a computer person . . . I mean, I can dial the phone number, but I can't really use all the functions."
