THE SIMPSONS MOVIE (2007)

Sunday, 9 p.m., HBO

They said it couldn't - or maybe it shouldn't - be done, but the Simpsons movie is a terrific walk on the vile side. Homer triggers an environmental disaster that shuts the town down after he dumps pig poop in the lake. Voiced by Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright and Hank Azaria.

THE MATRIX RELOADED (2003)Monday, 10:15 p.m., HBO

It's six months after the events first transpired in "The Matrix" and now Neo (Keanu Reeves), and the rebel leaders discover they have 72 hours until their beloved Zion is attacked by the 250,000-strong Machine Army. Laurence Fishburne is back as Morpheus as is Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, the woman who introduced Neo to the truth of their fake lives. Second chapter of the trilogy.

STRANGERS ON A TRAIN (1951)

Thursday, 2 a.m., Ch. 13

Don't ever get involved in the plots of demented playboys while riding public transportation! That's the moral of this tight, brilliant Alfred Hitchcock thriller about a professional tennis player (the gorgeous Farley Granger) who meets the aforementioned demented playboy (Robert Walker) aboard a train. The Romeo proposes that it would be great for them to exchange murders. He won't be dissuaded.

EASTERN PROMISES

Saturday, 10 p.m., MAX

A midwife (Naomi Watts) gets mixed up with vicious Russian mobsters in London after a teenager dies giving birth. The midwife, wanting to find the baby's family, finds clues to his lineage in a journal written in Russian but the discovery leads to dark and dangerous truths. It also leads to Nikolai (Viggo Mortensen), a driver for the mob with divided loyalties. Terrific.
