Facing a make it or break it season, St. John's coach Norm Roberts got a break from the Big East Conference schedule-makers yesterday.

The Red Storm's home-and-home opponents are Notre Dame, which figures to be strong, Seton Hall, which is building under Bobby Gonzalez – and Cincinnati, which is rebuilding under Mick Cronin.

St. John's also gets most of its tougher opponents at home. Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville and Syracuse come to the Big Apple for games that likely will be played in the Garden.

Ganmes against Seton Hall and South Florida probably will be at newly renovated Carnesecca Arena. The toughest road games at are Marquette and Villanova.

Seton Hall's three home-and-home opponents are a little more challenging. The Pirates get Connecticut twice, St. John's twice and in-state rival Rutgers twice.

Rutgers gets Seton Hall twice, Providence twice and Syracuse twice. The Friars have a chance at being a surprise team under new coach Keno Davis.
