BEFORE he entered government, a different wild kingdom interested Newt Gingrich. "Long before I aspired to enter the field of politics, I wanted to be a zookeeper," Gingrich writes in an introduction to the new book "America's Best Zoos: A Travel Guide for Fans and Families," reports dcgadfly.blogspot.com. "As I was growing up in Harrisburg, Pa., my relatives would take me to the big zoos . . . I fell in love with seeing animals in all their glory and diversity. I found animals fascinating." But then Gingrich found his other calling, and the rest is history.
