City health officials yesterday vowed to institute new reforms - including checks on waiting-room patients every 15 minutes - at troubled Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, where staff ignored a psychiatric patient as she lay on the floor dying.
A shocking video caught the tragic outrage on tape. It shows Esmin Green, 49, being left to wait in the hospital's psychiatric emergency room on June 18 and 19 for nearly 24 hours. She spent the last hour on the floor, sometimes convulsing, as a hospital security guard watched but ignored her.
By the time help was summoned, Green was already dead.
The city's Health and Hospitals Corp. said new reforms at the hospital will include the waiting-room checks, more complete and accessible patient logs and fewer patients in the waiting room.
