A 16-year-old boy was charged with stealing about $250,000 worth of computers and accessories from a Catholic school in Brooklyn yesterday - after his own grandmother turned him in.

Dante Pettiway was allegedly part of a gang that made off with 120 laptops from St. John the Baptist school in Bedford-Stuyvesant. He was busted Monday.

His grandmother went to police after saying she heard him bragging recently about the April burglary.

Pettiway was one of about 20 people who got into the primary school sometime during the weekend of April 25, authorities said.

"It was horrendous," said the Rev. Joseph Agostino. "Because you know who suffers? The children. They spent the rest of their semester without computers."

Agostino said no locks or windows were broken and speculated that one or more of the thieves may have hidden in the school when it was locked up that Friday.

Pettiway was ordered held in lieu of $1,500 bail at his arraignment last night.
