Angelina Jolie checked into a French hospital yesterday, fueling speculation she's close to giving birth to her twins.
A spokeswoman for Lenval Hospital in Nice - just a few miles from Cannes, where a very pregnant Jolie ap peared on May 15 - confirmed the world-famous beauty is now in the maternity ward. She's under doctors' watch until birth.
"There's no urgency. It's been planned for a long time," said Nadine Bauer, a hospital spokeswoman. "She's very well. Everything is fine.
"She is not on the verge of giving birth, not at all. It's not for right away."
Jolie's babies are due next month, but twins are frequently born early.
Jolie, 33, and Brad Pitt, 44, now have four children - Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2.
The twins will be their second and third biological kids, joining Shiloh. Their other three children were adopted.
A publicist for Pitt said the couple is on "hiatus" from Hollywood and out of regular contact with their Tin seltown handlers.
The couple moved to the south of France, in part, to escape the constant media focus that follows them.
A TV show reported in late May that Jolie had given birth, but that turned out to be a false alarm.
A British magazine is now boasting that it's learned the name of Pitt and Jolie's soon-to-be bundles of joy - Isla Marcheline and Amelie Jane.
Even though the couple is a world away from Hollywood, they haven't completely rid themselves of Golden State reminders: The hospital in Nice is located on California Avenue.
Jolie's enjoying a flood of good news - her latest flick, "Wanted," raked in a tidy $51 million in North American box-office receipts as the No. 2 movie this past weekend, behind "WALL-E."
