"WALL-E," Disney-Pixar's tale of robot love, pushed all the right buttons with moviegoers over weekend, pulling in $62.5 million to land atop the box-office heap.
The apocalyptic children's flick wraps an eco-friendly message into a 98-minute, computer-animated, science-fiction comedy-drama.
Coming in second was the Universal Pictures thriller "Wanted," starring Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy.
The heavy-action assassin flick, loosely based on Mark Millar's similarly titled, dark comic-book miniseries, debuted at $51.1 million.
"Get Smart" had a solid second weekend, taking in $20 million after opening as last weekend's No. 1 with $39.2 million.
DreamWorks' "Kung Fu Panda" isn't going without a fight, hauling in $11.7 million. The animated hit now has an impressive $179.3 million haul over four weeks.
"The Incredible Hulk" rounded out the No. 5 spot, reaping $9.2 million over its third weekend weekend and boosting its total take to $115.5 million.
