Contract talks between Bryce Salvador and Lou Lamoriello yesterday produced significant progress yesterday, the agent for impending unrestricted defenseman told The Post yesterday.

"We made progress on several items, and still have a few more to go," agent Carlos Sosa said. "We'll continue talking with the Devils through Tuesday, and after Tuesday, too, if we still have more to do."

Sosa refused to reveal whether Lamoriello inquired about ex-Leaf Darcy Tucker, already unrestricted after being bought out by Toronto last week.

Salvador, 32, made $1.5 million last season, coming from the Blues Feb. 26 for Cam Janssen. He is likely to command double that salary, or more, as an unrestricted free agent.

Former Islanders captain Alexei Yashin has re-signed with his team Salavat Yulaev UFA in the Russian league, and last year's goaltending hero, Wade Dubielewicz, reportedly has joined Russian team Ak Bars Kazan. The Isles are buying out center Shawn Bates.
