Ray Schnittker has never won a Triple Crown race, but with a little luck he could change that tonight at Yonkers Raceway.
Co-owner/trainer/driver Schnittker will guide his 3-year-old colt Make It Happen (4-1) from post six in the $605,854 Yonkers Trot, the track's signature event and the first jewel in the trotting Triple Crown.
Make It Happen has shown himself to be a versatile colt, but Schnittker said he prefers to race from behind.
"He's won on the front, but all of his better races have been off the pace," he said. "I don't think any of them want to see him coming off that last turn, and I'm within a length and then they're in trouble.
"If he wins [tonight] it's not going to surprise me."
The Trot is the 10th race on tonight's card. Post time is 10 p.m.
