Jockey Jeremy Rose was suspended six months by Delaware stewards after his whip accidently struck the eye of his mount Appeal to the City in the third race at Delaware on Monday. He has appealed the penalty but was not given a stay of the suspension. Rose has said he will not attempt to ride until the appeal is heard by the Delaware Racing Commission on July 22.

Tony Micallef, agent for jockey Alan Garcia who is the second leading rider at the Belmont meet, recently surrendered his jockey agent's license and currently has no racing privileges in New York.

Leading jockey Eibar Coa took off his mounts as he is still suffering from a sore back and bruised ribs from a fall while coming out of the gate in the third race on Friday. He is expected to ride today.

2ND RACE: Marthas Mandate drew away from the field, and with the victory jockey Sebastian Morales became a five-pound apprentice.

9TH RACE: Apprentice Joseph Berrios Cruz finally won his first race in the US as he sent Count This Senora to the front and never looked back.
