Alleged cop killer Lee Woods had items smuggled into his Rikers Island jail cell by guards as he awaited trial for gunning down NYPD officer Russel Timoshenko, sources told The Post yesterday.

Correction officers August Durand and Michael Santiago were fired yesterday, the sources said. Both had been on the job less than a year.

The contraband was not identified, but officials said the incident forced them to cancel a Brooklyn Supreme Court hearing that Woods and two other suspects were due to attend yesterday.

"We had information that we thought was credible that one of the defendants might have contraband that could compro- mise his secure delivery to court," said Department of Correction spokesman Stephen Morello.

"We kept the inmates in the cells in the jails. We conducted searches."

The hearing has been rescheduled for today, said Morello, who refused to confirm the firing of the officers.

Woods' lawyer, Sam Karliner, said yesterday his client is on 23-hour-a-day lockdown, is videotaped every time he is moved and that his visitors are strip-searched.
