WOBURN, Mass. - A British man who fled the United States after his wife and baby were shot to death was convicted of murder yesterday by a jury that rejected claims that the mother killed her daughter and herself as they snuggled in bed.
Neil Entwistle, 29, closed his eyes and shook his head upon being found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife, Rachel, 27, and their 9-month-old baby, Lillian Rose.
Prosecutors allege Entwistle was in debt and dissatisfied with his sex life when he shot his family with his father-in-law's gun in January 2006. He then bought a one-way airline ticket home to England. He was extradited less than a month later.
Sentencing was scheduled for today.
