Somebody got smart when it came to making a box office hit this weekend.
Despite lukewarm reviews, Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway's movie, "Get Smart," raked in $15 million on Friday and is expected to make $40 million in its opening weekend.
That figure would put the remake of the classic 1960s spy spoof high on the list of most successful film adaptations of a TV show.
Only adaptations of "Sex and the City," "Mission: Impossible" and "Charlie's Angels" made more than $40 million on their opening weekends.
The figure would also make it the most successful opening of any live-action Carell movie.
There was much less buzz about Mike Myers' return to the big screen, as his movie, "The Love Guru," flopped with a $5 million opening night Friday.
"Guru" is expected to make only $14 million over the weekend, much less than the $73 million the comedian's "Austin Powers in Goldmember" made in 2002.
