June 21, 2008 -- THE society wedding of the summer is today when Paul Desmarais III, grandson of billionaire Canadian financier Paul Desmarais, ties the knot with Mary Dailey Pattee, daughter of former Merrill Lynch honcho Gordon Pattee. Some 350 guests from around the globe will watch the lovebirds wed at St. Thomas on Fifth Avenue, then head to the reception at the New York Public Library. The parents have hired top wedding planner Elizabeth Allen, who did the nuptials of Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor.
