The rush is on to see Tiger Woods' comeback.
Internet hawkers were selling tickets yesterday for next year's US Open on Long Island for as much as $2,000.
Usually cheaper than the World Series and Super Bowl, tickets for the tournament at Bethpage, in Farmingdale, have soared in price on StubHub! and GoTickets! since Woods announced on Wednesday he would undergo knee surgery.
Although surgery to his torn knee ligament will keep the 32-year-old golfer away from the links for eight months, the US Open could likely be the first major tournament to mark his return.
Brokers are selling weekly packages, which sell for $600, from between $1,500 to $2,000. Early rounds, which usually go for $120, are selling for as much as $400.
On eBay, some sellers were selling final-round tickets, which range in price from $150 to $339, for upwards of $500.
The tournament will run from June 15-21, 2009.
