'98 MOB-HIT RAP VS. TRIO

By KATI CORNELL

June 19, 2008

The decade-old slaying of a mob turncoat on Staten Island came back to haunt three reputed Gambino underlings yesterday as the feds hit the trio with new murder charges that could result in the death penalty.

Accused shooter Edmund Boyle, and cohorts Letterio DeCarlo and Thomas Dono, are charged with teaming up to whack mob snitch Frank Hydell on April 28, 1998.

The hit team lured Hydell to Scarlet's strip club on Staten Island, where he was shot to death to stop him from spilling the beans on the slaying of Frank Parasole, a union official who was beaten to death at a bar in 1997, authorities said.

"These are ancient allegations that had no merit when the government first mentioned Tommy's involvement," Dono's lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman said yesterday. "The passage of time has only made the case weaker."

Boyle and DeCarlo, currently in prison, are set to make their first court appearance in the case in July.
