SOME pop music critics got spoiled in the years when record companies were awash in profits and album launches were lavish affairs. So there was grumbling Tuesday night when Tommy Mottola threw a listening party for "Lunada," the new album by his wife, Thalia. After hitting the open bar at Nikki Midtown and listening to some tracks from the LP, critics were stunned to be presented with menus by waitresses, who encouraged them to pay for their food. "Patrons turned on their heels and fled with empty stomachs . . . they weren't even offered a complimentary copy of the CD," said our source. We await the reviews.
