SLAIN COPS HONORED

By TATIANA DELIGIANNAKIS

June 17, 2008

The mothers of three slain cops received the Police Department's highest award on behalf of their sons yesterday.

Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly gave the Medals of Honor to the moms of Detective Russel Timoshenko and Auxiliary Police Officers Eugene Marshalik and Nicholas Pekearo at the NYPD's annual medals ceremony outside Police Headquarters in Manhattan.

Timoshenko, 23, and Yan were shot July 9, 2007, in Brooklyn when they stopped a group of men in an SUV after noticing that the license plate didn't match the vehicle.

Auxiliary cops Marshalik, 19, and Pekearo, 28, were fatally shot March 14, 2007, in Greenwich Village while chasing a man who had just gunned down a restaurant worker. The officers were unarmed.
