NFL: Crane accident injures 3

A cable snapped as a construction crane was being lifted off the ground yesterday at the Cowboys' new stadium, injuring at least three people, a team spokesman said.

One worker was hit by the cable and flown to a hospital, Cowboys spokesman Brett Daniels said. Two other workers managed to jump out of the way of the cable but were taken to a hospital by ambulance, Daniels said.

* Rookie receiver James Hardy was one of three Buffalo Bills players subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury looking into a hit-and-run accident involving running back Marshawn Lynch's SUV.

Besides Hardy, the Bills' second-round draft pick, rookie receiver Steve Johnson and second-year offensive lineman Christian Gaddis also were subpoenaed, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation confirmed to the Associated Press.

* A man accused of planning a massacre at this year's Super Bowl was convicted yesterday of federal charges.

Kurt Havelock faced six counts of mailing threatening communications in U.S. District Court in Phoenix.

TENNIS: Roddick advances at Queen's Club

Andy Roddick reached the quarterfinals at Queen's Club yesterday when fellow American Mardy Fish withdrew with a left ankle injury after losing the opening set 7-6 (5). Top seeds Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic also advanced.

BASEBALL: Tiger Stadium set for demolition

Demolition of Tiger Stadium could start in a few weeks.

Detroit Economic Growth Corp. vice president Waymon Guillebeaux says contracts were finalized Wednesday with MCM Management Corp. and the Farrow Group to tear down the ballpark.

NBA: Hawks offer Woodson extension

Hawks coach Mike Woodson has been offered a two-year extension, a person close to the negotiations said yesterday.
