A Staten Island man is suing Macy's, accusing it of selling him a shirt made from highly flammable material that left him very badly burned after a spark from a cigarette set it ablaze.
Joel Lederman, 66, claims that a chemical finish applied to the light-blue cotton shirt caused it to quickly burst into flames, leaving him with severe burns over 30 percent of his body.
Lederman said it happened in a flash.
"I was in shock. I didn't feel anything. It was unbelievable," he said. "I ripped the shirt off. I couldn't get it off fast enough."
