The city has been slapped with lawsuits or notices of claim asking for nearly a half-billion dollars as a result of the March 15 crane collapse that killed seven people, injured 24, demolished a townhouse, and led to the ouster of the Buildings Department commissioner.
So far, 27 notices of claim are seeking $426,304,147 in damages for wrongful death, injuries or property damage, said the City Comptroller's Office.
