Hondo, who seems cursed by the cursed Cubs (it could be a double-curse with a reverse), failed again yesterday with the Small Bears as well as with Macho Again, which caused the earnings to dip to 350 lollars.
Today, Mr. Aitch is hoping one of the Pope's favor ite teams blesses him with a victory - 10 units the Angels to beat the odds in Oakland.
It was an all-around tough day for favorites yes terday, with the loss by Big Brown being preceded by the one by Big Pantsuit. At least the horse knew when to stop running ... Listening to Dutrow rave endlessly about Big Brown for the last month, Hondo had the feeling the trainer thought there might be a lot more in store for the horse than just winning the Triple Crown. Maybe something like a career in busi- ness or possibly even med school.
