Reminder: Belmont Park is dark tomorrow. Track was fast, turf firm; Eibar Coa, Edgar Prado and John Velazquez each rode pair of winners on 10-race card, where only two winners paid more than 7-2.
NINTH RACE: The 120th running of the Grade 2, $200,000 Brookyn Handicap was run at mile-and-half for first time since 1990 as a prep for this year's inaugural Breeders' Cup Marathon. Deolosvientos, 2-1 coming off back-to-back front-running scores including the mile-and-half Fit to Fight at Belmont on May 15, once again galloped to front under Eibar Coa. Set even pace rattled off series of eighths in 12 seconds and change, kicked clear turning for home, held off late charge of beloved 10-year-old gelding Evening Attire to win by two lengths. Delosvientos, a 5-year-old gelding who has been racing in Florida, is owned and trained by Giuseppe Iadisernia.
10th RACE: Prussian, bred and owned by Monticule Farm, which bred Big Brown - in fact, the two colts were raised in the same field - making his third start of year, set pace under Kent Desormeaux at 3-1. Was going strong in front to final furlong, but could not withstand powerful outside rally of 2-1 Gio Ponti, Garrett Gomez up, making his first start for Christophe Clement since finishing eighth in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Monmouth Park.
