E. SIDE BUILDING GETS A BREAK

By BILL SANDERSON and CHUCK BENNETT

June 5, 2008

The developer of the luxury high-rise on 303 E. 51st St., site of the March 15 crane collapse that killed seven people, got a reprieve yesterday from the Department of Buildings.

Developer James Kennelly's planned 40-story tower violated 28 zoning regulations, and city officials threatened to make him chop down the 19 floors that were already built to get into compliance.

But he submitted a revised plan that may save the project.
