HARLEM'S UP IN ARMS

By LORENA MONGELLI and JOE MOLLICA

May 28, 2008

Fear and anger filled the streets of Harlem yesterday after a wild night of lawless gun violence left 10 people wounded, including a man who apparently was shot for bumping into someone on a sidewalk.

The Memorial Day mayhem had residents urging lawmakers to get the guns off their streets.

"I could have lost my only child," said Eugenia Stinson, whose son, Marquis, 26, was shot three times after bumping into someone on West 131st Street shortly before 11 p.m.

Thirty minutes earlier, a blitz of bullets along Malcolm X Boulevard left six teens wounded outside Marcus Garvey Park.

Hours later cops confronted a group of teens, including one who sprinted away and tossed a gun under a parked car along West 135th Street.

He was arrested, and investigators are testing the .380-caliber semiautomatic weapon to determine if it was used in any of the shootings.

Three other people were shot in three unrelated incidents.
