The Red Sox found an easy cure for their road woes - a visit to the worst team in baseball.
Bartolo Colon shut down Seattle for seven innings, and Dustin Pedroia's RBI ground-rule double scored the go-ahead run last night as the Red Sox scored four times in the eighth for a 5-3 win over the Mariners.
David Ortiz added a long solo homer in the fourth and Manny Ramirez rattled the outfield wall with a run-scoring single as part of Boston's eighth-inning rally, as the Red Sox snapped their seven-game road losing streak, their longest skid away from Fenway Park in nearly seven years.
Rays 7, Rangers 3
In St. Pete, Scott Kazmir (4-1) won his fourth straight start, striking out 10 in seven innings to lead the AL East leaders.
Eric Hinske hit a three-run homer for the Rays, who have won 16 of their last 17 home games and at 31-20 are 11 over .500.
White Sox 6, Indians 3 (12)
In Cleveland, Orlando Cabrera's fourth hit drove in the go-ahead run in the 12th inning for Chicago as the Tribe lost for the ninth time in 10 games.
Blue Jays 7, Royals 2
In Toronto, Shaun Marcum won for the first time in four starts, Gregg Zaun hit a two-run homer and the Blue Jays won to complete their first four-game sweep of the Royals.
Angels 1, Tigers 0 (12)
In Anaheim, Detroit's Bobby Seay walked Garret Anderson on four pitches with the bases loaded and one out in the 12th inning to force home the winning run. Anderson was the only batter Seay faced after replacing Freddy Dolsi (0-1).
NATIONAL LEAGUE
In Philadelphia, Chase Utley drove in a career-best six runs, Jamie Moyer (5-3) had a season-high seven strikeouts in seven efficient innings and the Phillies pounded the Rockies.
Utley hit a three-run shot to tie Lance Berkman and Dan Uggla for the major-league lead with 16 homers. Utley finished 3-for-6, Chris Coste added a three-run homer and Pedro Feliz had four hits and four RBIs. The Phillies batted around three times and had season-highs in hits (19) and runs a day after beating Houston 15-6.
Braves 7, D'backs 3
In Atlanta, Mark Teixeira drove in four runs to help the Braves beat Brandon Webb and the Diamondbacks.
Webb (9-2) allowed seven runs (four earned) and a season-high 10 hits in 41/3 innings.
Brewers 4, Nationals 3 (11)
In Washington, pinch-hitter Gabe Kapler singled home the decisive run in the 11th inning for Milwaukee.
Cubs 3, Dodgers 1
In Chicago, Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez homered to back Ryan Dempster.
