BROOKLYN

A thief who swiped a refrigerator from a Boerum Hill gas station was captured after police pulled him over in a van because his rear brake light was not working, authorities said yesterday.

Oscar Caicedo, 17, was driving a green 1994 van on Ninth Street near Second Avenue in Park Slope when cops stopped him at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, sources said.

When officers approached the vehicle, Caicedo blurted out that he "did it" and could not produce a driver's license, the sources said.

Police learned that Caicedo had stolen a $1,200 refrigerator from the Boerum Hill gas station on Third Avenue and Butler Street a day earlier, the sources said. Caicedo was charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property and driving without a license.

A young man was arrested for assaulting an employee in a Canarsie clothing store where he once worked, authorities said yesterday.

Mamadou Barry, 23, demanded the return of his CD case in Trend Setters on Avenue L and East 94th Street at 2:09 p.m. Thursday, cops said.

The employee, 43, ordered Barry to leave because the storeowner didn't want him there, sources said.

The two exchanged angry words, then Barry allegedly grabbed a wrench and tried to pry open a door to a glass case with merchandise inside.

The argument escalated and Barry allegedly shoved the other man into the front window, shattering it. The victim, who suffered only minor injuries, called police. Barry was charged with assault and criminal mischief.

Police are searching for a gunman who squeezed off shots from the roof of a Bedford-Stuyvesant building yesterday, cops said.

Officers arrived at the apartment building on Marcy and Gates avenues after receiving a 911 call of shots fired at that location at around 2:30 a.m. They searched the building and discovered shell casings on the rooftop.

MANHATTAN

A man was killed yesterday when he apparently jumped in front of a subway in Marble Hill, authorities said.

Arnaldo Santos, 23, was struck by a southbound No. 1 train on the elevated tracks at West 225th Street Station on Broadway at around 3:40 a.m., cops said.

Moments earlier, witnesses saw Santos walk off the platform and down the catwalk before he leaped in front of the oncoming train, police sources said.
