BOY BADLY BURNED

By PHILIP MESSING

May 17, 2008

An eight-year-old boy was clinging to life last night after being severely burned while roasting S'mores with his friends at a Murray Hill building, officials said.

The unidentified victim, was with friends and at least one parent in the basement of the East 36th Street building at 9 p.m., where they were barbecuing the chocolate and graham cracker snacks.

One of the moms then tossed a flammable liquid - possibly rubbing alcohol - on the flames, which exploded in the victim's face, officials said.

The boy was taken to New York Hospital with burns to over 70 percent of his body.

"It's not looking too good," said one law-enforcement official.

The woman who tossed the volatile liquid on the fire was taken into custody, but had not been charged as of early this morning.
