SPRINTING OFF TO JAIL

By KATI CORNELL

May 17, 2008

Disgraced Olympic sprinter Tim Montgomery must spend nearly four years cooling his heels behind bars for bank fraud, a federal judge ruled yesterday.

The former gold medalist was hit with a 46-month prison term for his role in a $5 million counterfeit-check cashing scheme that also involved Olympic star Marion Jones-Thompson.

The sentencing by Judge Kenneth Karas in federal court in White Plains comes two weeks after Montgomery, 33, was hit with heroin-distribution charges in Virginia.

The feds claim Montgomery deposited a $200,000 counterfeit check in a joint account he held with Jones-Thompson.
