SAN FRANCISCO - In a monumental victory for the gay-rights movement, the California Supreme Court yesterday overturned a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage.
The justices ruled, 4-3, that domestic partnerships are not an adequate marriage substitute, and will allow same-sex couples in California to tie the knot.
