LOS ANGELES - A Missouri woman, charged with using a fake MySpace ID to "torment, harass, humiliate and embarrass" a 13-year-old girl who committed suicide, was indicted yesterday.
Lori Drew, 46, is accused of participating in a hoax that led a 13-year-old neighbor, Megan Meier, to believe she was chatting with a 16-year-old boy. Drew was indicted on conspiracy charges in US District Court in LA.
Megan had what she thought was an online friendship with the fictional boy, "Josh Evans."
She hanged herself at her Missouri home in October 2006, after "Josh Evans" told her he didn't want to be friends with her anymore and that "the world would be a better place without you."
