City and state officials yesterday unveiled a new, $1.5 million waiting room for Governors Island ferry service at the Maritime Building in lower Manhattan - part of a project that includes a larger-than-life musical instrument designed by David Byrne, the ex-lead singer of the band Talking Heads.
A retrofitted, antique organ on the building's second floor will trigger a variety of vibrations as visitors tap its keys.
