May 9, 2008

An off-duty cop walking his dog was injured early today during a confrontation in the Bronx, police said.

The officer, who wasn't immediately identified, was taken to Jacobi Hospital with a laceration on his forehead, sources said. It was not immediately known if the cut was caused by a bullet.

The violence erupted at 12:15 a.m. at 237th Street and White Plains Road in the Wakefield neighborhood, where the cop lives, sources said.

The injury was not believed to be life-threatening; the officer was able to walk into the hospital emergency room on his own, sources said. Police were hunting for a suspect.
