Roger Clemens' country singing ex-paramour Mindy McCready was 17 years old - not a jail-bait 15 - when she met the star pitcher, a McCready friend says in a new report.
Jennifer Ryan Sirbaugh denied reports that Clemens was trying to play ball before the grass was green, and insisted that her pal was eight months shy of her 18th birthday when she caught the hurler's eye, according to columnist Sam Cook in the News Press in Fort Myers, Fla.

She said she and McCready met the then-Red Sox hurler during spring training in 1993 at a Fort Myers Beach bar.
McCready left on a boat with Clemens and went with him to a hotel, Sirbaugh told the paper.
Sirbaugh didn't see McCready until the next morning, when she arrived back at the apartment they shared.
"She arrived midmorning claiming they had not had sex," Sirbaugh told the paper.
McCready and her family have insisted that she remained chaste when she first met Clemens.
