OBAMA TAKING HILL VOTERS

By IAN BISHOP

February 28, 2007

Barack Obama has pushed Hillary Rodham Clinton's poll numbers closer to the red by taking a big bite out of her support among black voters, a new poll shows.

Clinton's lead over arch rival Obama has plunged 24 points in the past five weeks - she still leads 36 percent to 24 percent - due in large part to a major defection of African-American voters, a new ABC/Washington Post poll found.

Clinton now wields a 14 percent lead among critically important black voters, 44 percent to 30 percent, down a whopping 26 points since Jan. 19 - despite her courtship of blacks in South Carolina and Miami last week.
