Mets COO Jeff Wilpon is such a fan of the right field porch at Citi Field that he's going to personally own seats there.

Right field may be far away from the batter's box, but for Wilpon, being in the porch is worth it. The porch will stand approximately 30 feet tall and extend over the field for 8 to 10 feet.

"Like the old Tiger Stadium," he said. As for the rest of the new Citi Field, the Mets' stadium is a year away.

"We're on schedule, on budget and plan to be substantially complete by Jan. 1 of next year," Wilpon said while leading a media tour yesterday.

The stadium should cost approximately $800 million, and the exterior is 85 percent finished.

Citi Field will hold 45,000 fans, as opposed to the 57,333 at Shea Stadium. Included at Citi Field are 50 suites and a Jackie Robinson Rotunda with brick archways.

Like Shea, Citi will be a pitchers' park and will also have the home-run apple. Citi's closest seats to the field will be 45 feet behind home. Shea matches that distance, but Shea's closest seats are 4 feet above the field, Citi's are 6 inches below.
